The snare sound annoys a little. Also, the solos are sometimes a bit too "mewing" ;)
But that's nothing compared to the whole tune. The sound, melodies, composition - flawless victory :) |

This is amazing stuff, however patterns 20-24 are rather annoying (19 seems ok as for the solo start!). With artist vision it's sometimes very hard to decide to remove so-called "cool thing" from the piece, it's the same with movies, music, books... But decision here should be made and solo from 19-22 destroyed the thing. It was not polished enough to fit the rest of song. BUT. In overall this tune really rocks and I appreciate the hard work you put into it. |

perhaps the adlib fm-like shape wasn't the best approach for that sound. :D
- The snare sound annoys a little
yep, i could perhaps work more on that volume/eq level. The main problem with that sound was most likely the loudness level.

Well most of the sounds and song structure progressions were my idea. I took initiative because Elrinth didn't had any worthwhile idea at the start, and also he had a very little time to spend on the song, because of his real life work. But nevertheless he was very cooperative and helped me while he had time, with the missing parts, melody variations and filler parts. He is a classic video game music lover, so i've shaped the song to match his favored genres. The cooperation would be pointless if we couldn't work on the same level. (im mainly a trance/progressive producer, almost never work with samples, but with VSTis. It was my first try to make more "classical" sounds)

Haha, yea, i know what you mean. :D Elrinth didn't had too much air in this song, and that solo part from 19+ was his idea. Basically those were the last parts that we had worked on before the deadline,
it was around 02:00am, and of course we both needed to work on our regular jobs next day. So that part was indeed rushed a bit. He made several "barebone solo structures" and i've changed about 40-60% of the initial state on those patterns/melodies to be on acceptable levels. Many notes, slides were off tune and i've already spend about 1-1.5hours there to get something out from it, and i've decided to let it go and finish the production already. :) We've talked about some more ideas that we could get in, and rip out from the song, but the deadline was too close to change anything major.
With more production time, a lot more cool ideas could be implemented to it. Overall i've spent about 10-12~hours on the whole song, but i was happy with the results even this way (normally im spending several days or even weeks on trancey stuff). And while was there, i gave myself some extra challenge. Didn't reused any of the instruments, but made all the extra sounds and effects with with multiple channel/dsp routing tricks. |
